The Professional Expectations of the ATU Certified™ Flight Instructor (CFI) The ATU Certified Flight Instructor has logged a minimum of 400 total flight hours and has given a minimum of 100 hours of flight instruction. The ATU Certified Flight Instructor exhibits a strong, professional commitment to both flight education and training. The ATU Certified Flight Instructor assumes responsibility for providing high quality flight training services to both recreational and professional flight students. The ATU Certified Flight Instructor works to maintain consistency and harmony between the classroom and training environment. The ATU Certified Flight Instructor plays an active role in ATU promotion, recruitment, and program-services development. ATU Certified Flight Instructor have undergone online indoctrination training certifying them in ATU teaching and training methodologies.* *ATU Certification also involves five (5) additional hours of flight training and two (2) days of intensive business training. The business training is done online and the venue for flight training is flexible. ATU Certified Flight Instructors perform active public speaking roles in a variety of community settings. ATU Certified Flight Instructors conduct all flight training activities in coordination with the AGI assigned to a specific student. ATU Certified Flight Instructors conduct all student interviews in close coordination with their ATU-assigned AGI.
