HISTORY AND MISSION STATEMENT

Aviation Training Unlimited

AVIATION TRAINING UNLIMITED, Inc. has recognized the need for and subsequently established an Aviation Training facility to:

(1) Provide in-depth Pilot EDUCATION to bolster the safety and effectiveness of contemporary flight TRAINING around the globe.

(2) Remove the barriers of High cost and Excessive time typically found in Flight School settings, and

(3) Give students multiple options with respect to their aviation career goals.

Successful goal attainment is achieved through the Coordination of education, training, web-based technologies, strategic alliances, and mentored collaboration with experts from across the industry.

Aviation Safety Overview

The Catalyst for the Mission

The statistics and data are clear.

Over the past 25 years accident statistics have not changed significantly while the flight environment has changed substantially.

Across the field of aviation, technology has advanced, more accurate and better tools and resources are available, and planes have been made safer.

Simple logic suggests that if everything else has advanced--including improvements in the infrastructure of the flight environment and the development of sophisticated equipment--statistics should reveal a corresponding decrease in aircraft accidents.

This is not the case, however. Current statistics show little or no change in the accident picture. This leads to a very sad conclusion.

Pilot performance has actually declined proportionate to industry development.

There are few in aviation today who would disagree with these observations. Statistics continue to suggest that 95% of all Airplane accidents are "caused" by pilot error!

We believe that these numbers are actually low!

An educated, thinking pilot should be able to function safely and effectively in a potentially hazardous situation and complete their mission without incident.

A balanced emphasis on both education (cognitive learning) and skill development (mechanical performance) is rarely observed in contemporary flight training.

Pilot performance is generally assessed in mechanical terms (e.g., demonstrating performance to a particular "test standard").

An airplane, however, is perhaps the worst classroom in the world from which to derive the knowledge and understandings necessary to insure the overall safety of flight operations.

Then, too, this needed "mix" cannot be derived from DVD’s or interactive CDROM’s alone.

These formats are excellent for helping one pass a test and can be great supplementary tools when combined with a coordinated, dynamic learning plan.

The "gray matter" of one's brain, however, must also be engaged in the process of flight training for aviation decision making to have any long-lasting impact on flight safety.

Hence, the need for a dynamic balance between knowledge, understanding, and skill development in any effective training program.

Upon assessing the present situation, we concluded that the above statistics were unacceptable to our goal of educating and training safer pilots.

Having recognized the problem it became our mission to do something about it.
