Private Pilot Class - Procedures and airport operations

Procedures and Airport Operations -You DO have to takeoff and land.

It should come as NO SURPRISE that most auto accidents happen in parking lots. The same holds true in aviation. When you get a high density of "Cars/Aircraft" in a confined area, obviously, the propensity for accidents increases.

Procedures and Airport Operations is a key area of study to address these issues and explain "How to operate in these environments - SAFELY!.

This section of the learning plan incorporates:

*How to operate at Uncontrolled and Tower Controlled Airports

*Understanding Airport Markings

*Understand Airport Lighting and How to use it as a tool

*Visual Approach Slope Indicator (VASI)

*Understanding Surface Operations

*Utilizing the Airport/Facility Directory

*Evaluating Fitness for Flight

*Aeronautical Decision Making - "It's better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, then be in the air wishing you were on the ground!"

*Collision Avoidance

*Understanding Aircraft Lighting

** Wouldn't it be nice if everyone were taught how to negotiate the Wal-Mart parking lot in the same fashion?
