Private Pilot Class Rules and Regulations
Federal Aviation Regulations (also Known as FAR's) - You didn't really think that we would get to do ALL of the amazing things that Pilot's can do without some kind of rules did you? Just like driving a vehicle there are Rules and Regulations designed for our safety and the safety of others that we must follow. This portion of the learning plan is designed to give you understanding of the following, the reasons they are in place, the importance of the regulations in the flight environment as well as information to obtain updates as these change. *Pilot Certificate Privileges and Limitations *Pilot Ratings *Medical Certificates *Required Certificates *Recent Flight Experience *High-performance Airplanes *Glider Towing *Change of Address *Responsibility and Authority of Pilot in Command *Preflight Action *Seatbelts *Alcohol and Drugs *Right-of-way Rules *Acrobatic Flight *Parachutes *Deviation from Air Traffic Control Instructions *Minimum Safe Altitudes *Categories of Aircraft *Formation Flight and Dropping of Objects *VFR (Visual Flight Rules) Flight Plans *Speed Limits *Airworthiness *Maintenance and Inspections *Airworthiness Directives (AD's) and Advisory Circulars (AC's) *National Transportation Safety Board Oddly enough, the regulations are simply the rules that we must follow and a small part of the ATU Learning Plan BUT it seems that this is the area that every other flight school seems to focus. Sure there are minimum requirements to obtain a license. It is just not fair or responsible to the Student, the Aviation Community or the General Public as a whole to focus on "Get Your Minimum Time and Ratings..." At ATU we focus on the Education and Teaching you to be the best and safest pilot! Think about it this way - WE have all had the experience of seeing Drivers on the road that passed their test and met the minimum Legal requirements to get a driver's license BUT that does not necessarily mean they are SAFE DRIVERS or even really know how to drive. Our students know the Rules and Regulations as well if not better than anyone. The really nice thing is that are ALSO safe and knowledgeable aviators.
